Only the most audacious statement-makers would purchase a Louis Vuitton’s Paint Can Bag, which is unquestionably worth a second look. Previously offered in purple, red and orange, the bag has been refreshed with a new selection of colours drawn from the late Virgil Abloh’s distinctive palette – yellow, lagoon and green.
The accessory is a collectible for the fashion-conscious creative and is now available in “Lagoon,” “Green,” and “Yellow.” It comes with a metal handle that is engraved with “LV” in chrome and a ring top that opens on a leather hinge. With “EXTERIOR PAINT” lettering prominently displayed, information on the paint’s quality listed under the handle, and a warning to “Handle With Care” printed on the back.
The exterior plays with authentic paint-can branding. The Paint Can also has realistic touches inside, with microfiber lining the entire cylindrical case in the corresponding colour of each bag.
During the historic Men’s Fall/Winter 2022 runway show, which recognised Abloh’s undeniable imprint on the House’s DNA with then-and-now references to eight seasons of his ground-breaking work, the world first saw Louis Vuitton’s Paint Can Bag. The Paint Can Bag is a playful tribute to the all-pervasive visionary’s tongue-in-cheek attitude to design.
