You Never Have Enough Room For Anything

You’ll quickly notice that most of your chairs and desks are squeezed together, that a bunch of different documents are scattered all over the place, that you cannot have a free meeting room because it is consistently busy, etc. Besides that, you’ll also notice that:

  • Your team members are basically working elbow-to-elbow
  • The entire place has become too noisy
  • Everything that you and your workforce are using (such as equipment, files, supplies, and other items) is placed wherever they “fit.”

There’s no need to remind you how unpleasant (and that’s an understatement) all of this can be. This is generally an amazing way to create more space for work, without spending too much money.

But don’t forget that this should be a temporary solution until you work something out and find a larger office space.

There’s No Privacy

This may not feel like a huge deal to you right now, but don’t forget that no person wants to work in an organization where they cannot find even the smallest area where everything is quiet.

Your Team Is Getting Bigger, But That’s Not The Case With Your Office

There’s no denying that adding new people to your team is a great thing, and a huge sign of success and growth; however, bear in mind that the more talent you hire, the less space you’ll have. Therefore, you need to ask yourself:

  3. Are your employees sharing desks?
  4. Have your meeting rooms been turned into a workstation that you’ve been employing all the time?

When you’re dealing with the physical restrictions, your firm (and its expansion) will inevitably suffer at some point, which surely isn’t something that you need right now. If you want your organization, along with its workforce, to thrive, then you need to provide them with a space that’s comfortable in every sense.

Meeting Rooms Are Always Packed

The vast majority of organizations are heavily reliant on meeting rooms because they have become an integral part of their operations, but that doesn’t mean that they’re supposed to be utilized 24/7.

It’s one thing to use them when necessary, but completely another if you convert them into regular office spaces. Once something like this occurs, it’s a warning sign that you no longer have available space in your existing office spaces.

In a nutshell, you are running out of space capacity. Sometimes, the members of your team will make use of them not solely for the meetings, but because they simply need a place where they can unwind without being disturbed in any way.

Or, on some occasions, they will utilize them to talk to other employees because they cannot do it in a conventional office space due to noise, too many people, etc. That’s definitely not a good thing and is a major indicator that it’s about time to do something about this problem.

It’s no brainer that one of the best things that you can do in these types of situations is to simply move to another office space that’s much bigger and that you can manage more easily. 

Productivity Is Drastically Decreased

When your current space becomes loaded with workers, then it will, at some point, negatively influence the productivity of your employees. That’s because they won’t be able to focus because of this, and they’ll become easily distracted by even the smallest move. The most common productivity red flags typically include the following:

  • Your team members aren’t capable of easily accessing certain tools and pieces of equipment
  • More and more people are asking to work from home so they can have some quiet time
  • Basically, no one (or most workers) has enough privacy for business phone calls and meetings
  • The noise has become too much

Your Reputation Will Be Impacted, Too!

Now, this may not be any sign, but simply a warning of what could potentially happen if you do not move to another location. If your office becomes too crowded, it will ultimately ruin your reputation, and God knows whether you’ll be able to attract new talent.

Although it’s great when you conclude that you’ve outgrown your office space, because it means that you are moving in the right direction, it also means that you need to take the necessary steps to move to a better place as soon as possible.
